德威克，以及老一代香港船王董浩云，都是這樣做的。可是包玉剛與他們都不一樣，他出人意料地采取了長期出租的經營方式，把自己的船為期3年、5年甚至10年地租給別人，租用者按月交納租金，但租金標準卻要低得多。許多人都在嗤笑這個不自量力，不懂規矩的小孩子，但包玉剛自有他的打算，他曾對人說：“我的座右銘是，寧可少賺錢，也不去冒險。”他謀求的是長期則穩定的收入，這是放眼未來的一種經營方法。而短期出租就要承擔一定的風險。

1984年后，寧波相繼被國家確定為沿海開放城市、計劃單列城市。讓海外資本家出錢來辦學校，這在當時是絕對不敢想象的。1976年，中國遭遇到唐山大地震那樣巨大的災難,幾十萬人傷亡、一座城市被摧毀，都咬緊牙關，硬是沒要國際上的一分錢援助。這次不過是造一所大學罷了，怎么能開口向外面的人去要錢?

怎么辦?最后是鄧小_幫助寧波人打破了思想的桎梏。1984年8月，鄧小_在與時任國務委員的谷牧談話時說：“寧波人海外僑胞人數不多，但質量較高。要把全世界的‘寧波幫’都動員起來建設寧波!”

鄧小_此舉的激勵作用是巨大的。在他發表“寧波幫”講話后不久，包玉剛馬上行動起來，滿足家鄉的辦學渴望。他把建校方案交給盧緒章時，兩人一拍即合。在盧緒章的大力促成下，包玉剛當場答應拿出5000萬元人民幣，助建寧波大學。1984年12月20日，鄧小_在北京人民大會堂會見包玉剛。包玉剛提出了在寧波辦一所大學的設想，希望得到支持。“我贊成。”鄧小_非常高興，稱贊包玉剛“愛國愛鄉，有見識，這件事辦得好!”并欣然答應給寧波大學題寫校名。寧波大學的建校速度是一個奇跡。1985年10月29日，由包玉剛總捐資20__萬美元、占地1283畝的寧波大學，在他的老家莊市附近舉行了奠基典禮。迄今為止，有近50位海外“寧波幫”人士先后捐贈逾2.5億元人民幣(按當年匯率計算)用于學校的各項建設。

鄧小_親接“燙手”支票

對舊有觀念的突破，最早發生在1981年。“1981年7月6日，包玉剛與父親包兆龍一起訪問北京，首次受到了鄧小_接見。邀請并陪同包玉剛的是他的表兄弟、外經貿部顧問盧緒章。然而偌大的一個北京卻找不到一個像樣的賓館招待這位大老板，最后好不容易才在北京飯店安排了一個套間，而包玉剛的大批隨從卻住不進去，包括他的妹夫——他最得力的助手。”王耀成說。在北京，包玉剛向盧緒章提出，他想為國家做點實事，第一件事不是造船，而是要捐1000萬美元給北京造一座像模像樣的大飯店。他不要求任何回報，只提出一個條件：飯店以他80多歲的老父親的名字命名，叫“兆龍飯店”。1000萬美元，在1981年是個天文數字。“然而這張沉甸甸的支票卻沒人敢接。”王耀成說道，“這件事在北京的各個部門討論來、討論去，一直通不過。持反對意見的人發言說：‘他是一個海外資本家，不過出了點錢，就想在我們社會主義國家的首都永久留名，這怎么行?’”

這件事，最后還是報到了鄧小_那里。“鄧小_聽到此事遲遲辦不下來，便生氣地說，‘為什么不同意?人家捐款，那是出于一片好心，留個名不過是個形式而已，沒什么大不了嘛!這張支票，你們不敢接，我來接!’”拍板以后,鄧小_親自給兆龍飯店題寫店名，他親自出席了簽約儀式，親手接過了這張支票，又親手為兆龍飯店剪彩。

寧波的第三張名片是“寧波港”。唐朝天寶十一年(752)，三艘日本譴唐使船由東瀛來華，緩緩駛入明州港，標志著古代寧波港的正式開埠.明州港，唐宋時與廣州、揚州，元時又與廣州泉州并列為我國對外開埠的三大港口.而在鴉片戰爭后，寧波被辟為”五口通商口岸”之一，北領的上海崛起后地位削弱，曾一度衰弱，1916年秋，孫中山先生攜夫人宋慶齡從上海乘船來寧波，在經乍浦洋面時，曾說：”吾立國以后，勢必在此建立東方第一大港”，可惜壯志未躊，身先死.寧波港分貨港和漁港，貨港以北侖港為代表，漁港以象山的石浦港為代表.北侖港到20__年，貨物吞吐量就突破了一億噸!現以擠身世界億噸大港的行列，蓬勃發展的寧波七港，已與世界上80多個國家和地區的500多個港口建立了通航聯系，北侖港擁有中國大陸絕無僅有的20萬噸級礦石碼頭和25萬噸級原油碼頭.寧波新世紀工程第一條就是要把寧波港建設成為國際深水中轉樞紐港.而石浦港是中國四大漁港之一，與舟山群島相連通，瀕臨東海的寧波，人們對海洋的感情是深厚的.”海洋固大，竭澤而漁必致無魚，取之無度必將無物”’就是說海洋雖然浩瀚，過度的捕撈漁民也就無魚可捕，而海洋中也將沒有任何東西存在，所以”善待海洋，就是善待人類自己”.因此就有了20__年中國的開漁節，什么叫開漁節?它就是漁民們自發在每年的7-9月份進行停止捕魚作業，

稱”禁魚期”.而到了9月15號后就進行祭海儀式，舉行一系列的文化活動，祈禱平安和豐收，謳歌大海，稱”開漁期”.在祭海儀式中，讀罷祭文后，參祭隊伍從祭壇走想大海，三次鞠躬行禮，將稻谷、花生、紅棗、核桃、水果等五過，拋向遠方，然后就向大海獻酒，接下來就是18名兒童手捧玻璃魚缸，讓蟹、蝦、幼魚們生還大海，以示漁家后代對大海的感激和反饋之意，最后100名男女青年三步一叩。

那么寧波的第四張名片就是”寧波景”.寧波于1999年榮獲全國首批優秀旅游城市稱號.寧波是一座歷史文化名城，它有淵源流長的歷史文化，充滿氣節的斗爭風范，漫步天下，闖蕩四海的英雄業績.它的東面是海天佛國普佗山，南有奇山繡峰雁蕩山，西有美麗米人的西湖，北有國際大都市上海，形成了一個圈帶似的旅游網.

寧波人講話：一靠警察，二靠妓女，三是不能講。三靠，其實是政策、機遇、北侖港。
