鴨綠江風景名勝區位于鴨綠江中下游丹東市境內，東起渾江口,西至大東港,全長210公里，總面積824.2平方公里。風景區與朝鮮新義州隔江相望。這里地理位置優越，氣候冬暖夏涼，山青水秀，一覽中朝兩國風光而獨具特色。

鴨綠江因為水的顏色而得名，那碧綠的江水，猶如雄鴨脖頸的瑩綠，先人們便稱其為鴨綠江，沿襲至今。鴨綠江發源于吉林省長白山南麓，流經長白、集安、寬甸、丹東等地，向南注入黃海，全長 795公里，是中朝兩國的界河。鴨綠江流經丹東市約300公里。此段江面寬闊，兩岸風光秀麗，在入海口一帶，盛產大銀魚。
